
KATE BUCKLEY
Kate Buckley
Kate was called to the Bar in 2017 and practices primarily in planning and environment, family and domestic violence law. Kate appears led and unled in the Planning and Environment Court, Federal Circuit and Family Court and the Magistrates Court and has been led in appeals in the Court of Appeal.
Kate is a current committee member of the Queensland Environmental Law Association, and a former President of Queensland Young Lawyers. As president, Kate implemented Queensland's first independent salary survey for junior lawyers and the family law solicitor advocacy course. Kate has also implemented this solicitor advocacy program with QELA.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Kate worked as a solicitor at a boutique commercial law firm and completed a secondment to an ASX-listed mining company as general legal counsel and assistant company secretary. As part of her secondment, Kate was involved in capital raisings, shareholder meetings and liaised with both ASIC and the ASX. Kate was also legal associate to the Honourable Justice May AM QC of the Appeal Division of the Family Court of Australia.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Media and Communications (Dist.) from QUT.
